Why your grant has been converted to a loan
Normally, grants are money you don’t need to pay back. However, your grants have been converted to a loan for the following reason:
- Your 2020-21 OSAP Application for Full-Time Students was reassessed and you received more grant funding than you were eligible to receive (for example, you withdrew from studies, dropped courses or your study period income increased). As a result, you’re considered to have an overpayment and some, or all, of your grant funding has been converted to a loan.
- When you applied for OSAP funding for the 2020-21 academic year, you signed Consents and Declarations indicating that you understood that any Ontario Student Grant you receive will be converted into a loan if you receive more grant funding than you are eligible to receive.
