What’s included in compulsory fees

2021-22 OSAP Application for Full-time Students

Compulsory fees are charged at postsecondary schools for education-related costs beyond tuition fees. Not all compulsory fees charged by postsecondary schools are recognized in the OSAP need assessment. The following compulsory fees are recognized:

• co-op fees/placement fees
• field placement
• student activity fees (e.g., student orientation activities, alumni activities)
• athletic fees (e.g., gym/sports)
• health services
• student union fees
• laboratory fees
• technology fees*
• computer software*
• mandatory graduation and convocation costs
• costs for one diploma, ID card and fee receipt

* must be a mandatory requirement of the program
