About your family

From your status we’ll determine who in your family needs to provide information on your application.

If you’re married or in a common-law relationship

Your spouse/partner must provide personal information such as their status (e.g., employed or in school), birth date, name, income/assets and financial assistance from government programs.

If you’re considered to be a dependent student

Your parents must provide information. Depending on their status, it may be only one parent (the one you live with) or both parents (or parent’s spouse/partner). We’ll figure that out on the application. Parent will need to provide information about:

  • their status (e.g., married, divorced)
  • name
  • number of children including those in postsecondary studies
  • Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • income reported on their Canadian Income Tax return (line items 15000, 30800, 31000, 31200, 43500)
  • other income
