Why apply for Continuation of Interest-Free Status?

Submit a Continuation of Interest-Free Status Application to request proof that you are enrolled in full-time studies. Full-time studies are 60% or more of a full course load (or 40% or more if you have a permanent disability or a persistent or prolonged disability).

Use this application if you:

  • are not submitting an OSAP Application for Full-Time Students for your study period,
  • have outstanding full-time loans from OSAP, and
  • are now in full-time studies or within 15 days of starting full-time studies.

If your application is approved, the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) will be notified that you are in full-time studies. This means you may not have to make payments on your outstanding full-time loans from OSAP while you’re in school.

If you have submitted an OSAP Application for Full-Time Students, you do not have to submit a Continuation of Interest-Free Status Application. The NSLSC is notified you’re in full-time studies when your school confirms your full-time enrolment for your OSAP application.

Important:

No funds are issued from this application.

If you are looking for financial assistance for your study period, apply for funding on an OSAP Application for Full-Time Students.
