Part-Time Study Period

2023-24 OSAP Application for Part-time Students

Your study period is the time period during the current academic year in which you are considered to be in school. This time period, which is set by your postsecondary institution, is used to determine the amount of your aid, as well as various deadlines to submit applications or supporting documents.

Note:

If you are in school for more than one term (also known as a semester) during the current academic year and your course loads are different for each term, each term is considered a separate study period and you will have to submit a separate application for each term.

If you are studying part-time during each term:

  • the start date and end date that you enter for each application will correspond to the course load for the term in question.

If you are studying part-time in one term and full-time in another term:

  • you must submit a separate OSAP application for Full-Time Students for your full-time term.
  • your deadline to submit your part-time OSAP application and supporting documents will be based off the study period end date specific to your part-time term.

Contact your financial aid office for assistance in determining your course load and deadlines for each term.

Reminder:

If your part-time study period is 21 weeks or more, you must submit your OSAP application no later than 60 days before the end of your study period. All supporting documents must be received no later than 40 days before the end of your study period.

For part-time study periods of 20 weeks or less, your deadline to submit your OSAP application and supporting documentation is no later than 40 days before the end of your study period.
