Purpose and Value of the Grant
The Government of Ontario offers Textbook and Technology Grants to assist full-time community college and university students with their costs for textbooks and technology.
The value of the grant is $150 per student. You can receive only one Textbook and Technology Grant per OSAP academic year.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a Textbook and Technology Grant in the 2009-2010 OSAP academic year, you must:
- apply for and qualify for a Canada-Ontario Integrated Student loan; and
- be a student at a provincially assisted Ontario university or college of applied arts and technology. Click on the box below for a list of eligible institutions.
How to Apply
You do not have to fill out a separate application form for this grant, because your eligibility is based on the information supplied on your OSAP application.
You may apply using the OSAP online application or paper application.
Application Deadlines
If you are taking a one-term program, the deadline to apply is within the first 30 days of your study period. If you are taking a two- or three-term program, the deadline to apply is 90 days before the end of your study period.
There are also other important OSAP processing deadlines that you should be aware of.
When and how you will get your money |
The Textbook and Technology Grant is paid by cheque. It will be mailed to you at the mailing address you provide in your application.
The cheque will be approved as soon as the National Student Loan Service Centre (NSLSC) issues you your first OSAP instalment. The Ministry will send you a Web Status Message to tell you the date that your Textbook and Technology Grant is mailed to you.
If no other OSAP funding is being provided to you by NSLSC, the grant will be mailed after your institution processes your Confirmation of Enrolment form.
How to get an Online Update about your Grant
The Ministry will send you periodic online updates and messages about your grant. To access Web Status messages, go to the OSAP Main Page, and use your OSAP Access Number or your Social Insurance Number (SIN) and password to log in to the secure section of the OSAP website. There, you can check for TTG Web Status Updates for any application(s) you have submitted.
Getting Help
Web Status Updates are the primary way that the Ministry will communicate with you about your grant. But you may need additional help, either to get more information, or if there are problems in the processing of your cheque.
