You are entering the secure part of the OSAP website where you can:
- Apply online for the following programs: OSAP, Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS), and EXPLORE (formerly known as Summer Language Bursary Program)
- Update your file (change your password and addresses)
- Check the status of your application (after it is submitted)
The above functions are only available through the secure part of the OSAP website
to ensure your personal information is keep strictly confidential. Secure socket
layer (SSL) technology is used to ensure: 1) authentication - verifying who
you are and that you are accessing the OSAP website, and 2) encryption - ensuring
that any personal information is encrypted while being transferred across the
internet so that no one is able access it. A closed lock symbol will show up
on the bottom of your browser window indicating that you are in the secure
part of the website.
To log in, you have to validate who you are by providing:
Social Insurance Number (SIN) or OSAP Access Number (OAN)
You can use either your Social Insurance Number or your OSAP Access Number
to log into the OSAP website. For added security, you are given your OAN
to ensure that you can log in without having to use your SIN. Your OAN should
be kept in a safe and secure place and not given to anyone. We highly recommend
that you use your OAN whenever you log in. However, the choice is yours.
Note:
If you have a SIN that starts with "0,
3, 8 or 9", it is a temporary SIN and is not considered valid for OSAP purposes. You must
contact any office of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, Employment
Insurance for information on how to obtain a SIN. If you are a Protected Person,
as defined by subsection 95(2) of the federal Immigration and Refugee Protection
Act and you have a temporary SIN that starts with "9", you may apply using the OSAP online application. To do so, please use the "New student? Click here" link to log in.
Password
- If you accessed the secure section of the OSAP website before, you will have created a password at that time. You must enter this password. Please note that you could have created this password at any time in the past. If you do not remember your password go to Forgotten Your Password? for details.
- If you have applied for OSAP using a paper application form ONLY and you entered a Temporary Password on the paper application (in previous academic years it was called a Personal Identification Number (PIN)) then you must enter your Temporary Password or PIN. You will then have to create a new password.
- If you have been locked out of the OSAP website and have had your password reset (they gave you a temporary password) by your financial aid office or the ministry, you must enter the temporary password. You will then have to create a new password.
- If you have not applied for OSAP or did not provide a temporary password on your paper application, then you must click on "New User" Click here" so that you can create a password and Challenge Questions and Answers.
Challenge Questions and Answers
If you have forgotten your password you have the option
of logging in to the OSAP website using the Challenge Questions and Answers that
you previously set up. You will be presented with your two questions and if you
answer both of them correctly, you will be able to log in. You will be required
to create a new password, which you should use in the future. Keep it in a secure
place and don't forget it!
How to Set Up Challenge Questions and Answers:

If you are an existing OSAP student, when you first log in you will be presented with an opportunity to create your questions and answers. You can also change your questions and answers at any time by going to the link on your Online Services Page.

If you are a new user you will be asked to set up your questions and answers when you first log in.
Forgotten Your Password?
If you do not remember your password you can either:

Locked Out?
Why you are locked out
You are locked out of the OSAP website when you have entered a wrong password
and/or challenge answers too many times. The lock out ensures that someone
cannot keep trying to figure out your password and get access to your personal
information. We wish to ensure your personal information is safe and secure.
How you are locked out
When you make 3 attempts to get access and are unsuccessful, you will be locked
out for 24 hours. You can can try another 3 times and you will be locked
out for another 24 hours. When you try again 3 times and are unsuccessful,
you will be locked out permanently.
